GIVEAWAY!!! Black Rose Bath

When I came home from the park, our entire hallway/stair area smelled of pure greatness! I saw a package sitting at my door step and of course was excited to open it. Black Rose Bath sent me a sampler pack of lots of their items!

I fell in love with the organic sugar scrub, pink grapefruit and mango body scrub, and the lemon verbena soy candle. The shea butter soap is my 6 year old daughter's favorite. She said it is soft on her skin. She has some sensory issues, so when she loves something there is no talking her out of it. :)

And while I didn't love the scent, the aromatherapy relaxation bar has a very unique look to it. It is all personal preference. The product itself is great. I prefer fruity scents (like the lemon verbena, yum!), not perfumed scents. If you like stronger scents, I'd try the aromatherapy relaxation bar (pictured below). If you like more natural scents, the plumeria glycerin soap is perfect.

Aromatherapy Relaxation Glycerin Exfoliating Soap- 4oz Bars-Cruelty Free and Eco Friendly

If you are looking for a great soy candle, I definitely recommend this shop. I have my eye on the dark chocolate one. If you are looking for a pretty soap for the guest bathroom, try the aromatherapy and relaxation soap, or the lavender aloe vera bar. If you are addicted to soy melts like I am, try the aromatherapy soy melts.

Aromatherapy Relaxation Soy Melts

Good: The prices are very fair, as is shipping. They even have a $1 soap section!

Bad: Some of the scents are very strong, so you might want to ask her before ordering if you are sensitive to certain ones.

BUY IT: Black Rose Bath

WIN A SAMPLE BOX FROM BLACK ROSE BATH:

Follow our blog (mandatory, 1 entry)

1 entry EACH:

Stalk Black Rose Bath on: Facebook, Etsy, Blogger, and Twitter and let them know 3G sent ya!

1 entry each DAY:

Devany's Designs Review & Giveaway

How many ways can you say "Happy Birthday"? Well, let's see... you could say it with zebra stripes and polka dots...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Banner - ZEBRA and MINNIE MOUSE style print in black white and hot pink

Or you could say it with leopard print!
HaPPY BiRTHDAY Banner - Golden Yellow LEoPARD and Red MiNNIE Polka Dots

Hey, what about a cow print?
HaPPY BiRTHDAY Banner - Chocolate Brown CoW PRiNT on Baby PiNK

All of these are FUN ways to say Happy Birthday!! Visit Devany's Designs on Etsy to see more.

As always, I'm going to be 100% honest when writing this review. When I saw these banners, I wasn't completely sold on them. The pictures are okay, but not great (though I admit when I tried to get my own "great" pictures of the one I received, I failed miserably), and they're cute but they didn't make me squeal with delight when seeing them online. However, when I got my Happy Birthday banner in the mail, I was pleasantly surprised!! These are not letters on printed paper, they are solid colored letters with hand made stripes, polka dots, etc. They are sealed (think laminated), and strung together with a satin ribbon. I only wish my little girl's birthday was coming sooner than August! She loves Minnie Mouse and these zebra stripes and polka dots (see first picture) would look GREAT with a Minnie theme!

Shipping is only $1.60, or $.40 if shipped with another item. You truly can't beat that, especially with the price of mailing supplies these days. Ugh, don't get me started!

I was browsing Devany's shop and found the CUTEST baby shower designs. Look!

Giant iTS A GiRL Banner - Hot Pink Cheetah or Leopard Print

And she didn't leave the boys out!
ITS A BOY banner - blue/brown polka dots

Ya know what would be super fun? A camouflage "Happy Birthday" sign for the little hunter in your life, or maybe a silver and black for your mom's 50th birthday party! The possibilities are endless here, and at these prices you really can't resist! I know some of you are thinking "I could make those myself". Why yes, yes you could.. but they're only $15 and I promise it would take you more time than it's worth! So if you are planning a party soon, be sure to stop by Devany's Designs and let her know you want her to make you a special sign!

Orrrrrrrr better yet, ENTER OUR GIVEAWAY!! :) One custom birthday sign made by Devany's is up for grabs!! You know the drill. :) Don't forget to leave your email! Giveaway ends 3/27 and winner will be announced on that day.

Vital Goods Review

Dreadlocks are becoming more popular among the mainstream crowd, which means there are more and more dread care shops popping up. This is a good thing, but not all dread care products are created equal.

My girlfriend has only had dreads for about a month, but we have already started to find out what works and what doesn't work. Unfortunately, some of the things we've tried have left her hair feeling (and looking) not so great.

Luckily, we found Vital Goods. After using their Rosemary Mint Shea Butter Black Shampoo only one time, we noticed a big difference in her dreads.

Even if we didn't love how the shampoo helped her dreads, we'd keep it around because it smells A-MA-ZZZING! I want some air freshener, or maybe some melts, that smell this way. Wonder if they could do that for me... :)

The packaging is simple enough: just a plain bottle with a label on the back describing the product (it got wet and doesn't show up anymore, so we took a pic of the front).

For only $6 a bottle, this dread shampoo is a steal. Just for fun, I tried it on my own hair. It made it look and feel a bit different as well... can't explain it really, other than "nappy" (which can be a good or a bad thing, depending on your personal preference). It kind of felt (and looked) like I had hairspray in, but I didn't.

Vital Goods also offers other products...

Natural Deodorant Bars for only $5
Natural Patchouli Honey Shea Butter Deodorant Bar

Aroma Therapy Headache RX (I need to try this!)
Aroma Therapy Headache Rx

Can't wait to see what else they come up with!! Knotty Boy watch out, this shop sells things for less than half the price of your items and they smell better!!

SHOP, or show some LOVE. :)

Bella Fleur Review & GIVEAWAY!!

Being a boutique owner myself, I'm always extremely critical when I receive boutique items to review. I know how things are made, I know how much they cost to make, and I always cringe when I see how over-priced things are.

With that being said, please direct your attention to Bella Fleur. These items are not easy to make! They materials are expensive, they take time and patience and lots of practice, but somehow Bella Fleur still manages to sell them for under $15! These are not your typical flower clips, tutus, hair bows, etc. These are genuinely unique and so chic that you could even use them for wedding parties.

Check out these amazing hair accessories!

Hot Pink Satin Flower (Only $13.95)
Hot Pink Satin Flower with Lace Bow and Pearl Center on White Elastic Headband Many Colors

Teal Satin Flower with Swarovski Center and Peacock Feather Accent on White Crochet Headband

Now I'm the first to admit I'm a total cheap skate. I don't like to pay even $10 for hair accessories, but these are items I would splurge on! I absolutely adore peacock feathers, but they are a pain to work with. I would much rather buy one from Bella Fleur for $10.95 and be done with it. :)

As if I didn't sound like an infomercial enough already, I have to show you the darling pictures I took of Jenelle in one of Bella Fleur's accessories. Hands down, this is the best hair accessory I have reviewed. Ever.

If you are a photographer, you need to buy from Bella Fleur. I'm not exaggerating! :) They were so fun to take pictures of, I didn't want to stop! Jenelle was on her way to a dance, though, and wasn't having any more of it (notice the fake smile and slight eye roll lol). Take my word for it, they are worth the investment and you'll love taking pictures of them. They'd also be REALLY cute on little babies!! Ahh! The possibilities are endless!

**Shipping is also very reasonable!!**

A note from Bella Fleur's Etsy shop: BECOME A FAN OF BELLA FLEUR BOUTIQUE ON FACEBOOK AND RECEIVE A FREE FLOWER HAIR CLIP WITH YOUR FIRST ORDER. JUST LEAVE A NOTE AT CHECKOUT THAT YOU ARE A FAN!!

Review/Giveaway!! Pale Preoccupation

There are so many great things about Liese Chavez and her shop, Pale Preoccupation, that I'm not sure where to start! First of all, the name... just so unique! I love it. :) If you take two minutes to visit Liese's shop, you will see why I am in love. She is a great artist/illustrator, and is so friendly and helpful you feel like you are talking to an old friend instead of a shop owner.

I received a scrabble pendant necklace of her illustration: A WISH. This is the print:

A WISH -- signed Print of an Original Ink and Acrylic Painting -- PalePreoccupation

This is my scrabble pendant necklace:

A WISH -- Scrabble Tile Pendant -- FREE CHAIN -- FREE ILLUSTRATION

You can order this necklace here for $14 -- it comes with a free illustration as well as a free chain!

This is probably my favorite print... and only $16.
Secret Garden -- signed Print of an Original Ink and Acrylic Painting -- PalePreoccupation

Shipping is very reasonable ($3.00 for the above item), and the artwork is nothing short of amazing - especially for the price. I am going to order one of her prints for my daughter's next birthday. She will be turning 10 and they will make a great addition to her room. These will make great gifts for birthdays, Christmas, Mother's Day, etc... anyone who appreciates art will fall in love with Pale Preoccupation!

I don't really see a down side to this item at all. The chain is not a cheapo chain, the art is not blurred in any way, and the pendant is sealed properly (at the sides as well not just on top). I am definitely putting this shop on my Top 10.

Liese has been kind enough to offer one of our readers a scrabble tile pendant of the image "Flown" with a silver plated chain and free illustration! You know the drill, the more responses you make the more chances you get to win!

COMMENT AND LET US KNOW WHAT YOUR FAVORITE ILLUSTRATION IS FROM THIS ARTIST. THAT IS ONE ENTRY. The rest are below. :)

Follow our blog (MANDATORY) -- I am donating 10 cents for every follower this month, so hop to it!

Crawler Covers & More - GIVEAWAY!!

Crawlers Covers & More has more than 400 styles of  leg warmers available in their shop, more than any other on Etsy! You can't get much cuter than this.

Crawler Covers Baby Toddler Leg Warmers--Hot Pink with Skulls and Hearts

They were so kind as to send us two pair of leg warmers to review, and we definitely put them to the test! They fit my 4 year old, as well as my 6 and 9 year olds. We even tried them on a 2 year old afterwards and they fit her as well. My 4 year old wore them while she was ice skating, and they kept her little legs nice and warm. :) Their soft material is very breathable and will work well in warmer months, too.

Crawler Covers Baby Toddler Leg Warmers--Black with Dark Pink and Light Pink Hearts--Always Ships Within 24 Hours OR LESS

Don't let the name fool ya, these leg warmers will fit bigger kids too! While they are GREAT for diaper changes (no on and off!), they are so cute and trendy it makes me want to scream. :) They're for boys and girls, as well as arms and legs! So versatile!

Crawler Covers Baby Leg Warmers---Blue. Red and Green Rugby Striped

I personally have made and purchased leggings like these before and they did not hold up to the tests that these did. We put these guys through the ringer, and they're still in perfect shape! I have handed out a few business cards and the pictures alone are starting a little buzz around here! I definitely recommend you trying them out, even if you just order one pair - you will be hooked.

GOOD: Only $27 for 5 pair, PLUS free shipping. I have seen similar leggings cost upwards of $16. Lightning fast shipping, cute packaging.

BAD: None!

OVERALL: With a feedback score of nearly 8000, this shop can definitely be trusted. 100% positive feedback speaks volumes! FREE shipping, and ships out within 24 hours. They also offer a guarantee on their products, which seems to be a rarity on Etsy these days.

Organix South - Sadie's Review and a GIVEAWAY!

I am so glad I was contacted by Organix South! This company is amazing all the way around. I tried many of their products, but my favorites were the children's shampoo & body wash, and the facial cleansing bar. I have problems with constant break-outs on my face, due to stress, anxiety, and just overall "life" coming out in the form of trouble areas on my face. I have tried all of the facial creams, pads, bars, washes, cleansers, foams, etc. Some of them dry my face out and it seems to work. Others would make my skin oily. No matter what I tried, nothing would work for me.
Facial Complexion Cleansing Bar

When Organix South sent me this facial cleansing bar, honestly I just sighed. Another facial cleansing bar, yay... I tried it and I'm so glad I did!! This bar has cleared my face up about 80% and I have only been using it a week. It is nothing short of amazing! Now I don't personally care too much for the scent of the bar, but if you like all natural items, it won't bother you at all. Quite frankly, it could smell downright disgusting and I'd still use it. It's just that good! "Packed with antioxidants, Neem protects, nourishes and moisturizes even the most sensitive skin." -- That is what you will read on the package and THAT is what you will experience. This bar left my skin feeling so clean. That is not something that happens often!

Kids Therape Shampoo/Bodywash

My three daughters tried out the TheraNeem Shampoo & Body Wash. They loved how it smelled, and I loved how squeaky clean it got them! It does have a thinner consistency than other shampoos and body washes, but don't let that fool you into thinking it won't work as well. You don't use much of it at all - a little goes a long way. This product is gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin. The price is $13.95, so it's a bit more than the average children's shampoo but it will most likely last you longer, it's better for the kiddos, and it's all natural. What more could you ask for??

I also tried the cinnamon toothpaste and mouthwash from their oral care section. While it gets your teeth clean, and leaves your mouth feeling fresh, it's not for everybody. It really just depends on how important it is for you to use all natural products. If you can adjust to a different tasting toothpaste easily, it's great. The mouthwash didn't have much of a taste at all, and didn't burn like you will find with the stuff you buy at Wal-Mart. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing, but I liked it. :)

GOOD: Great products, awesome customer service, great page layout, amazing ingredients used in their products. Fast shipping, too!

BAD: The prices may initially make you flinch a bit, but these are all natural products and worth every penny. For being as good as they are, I'd actually expect their prices to be a little higher.

OVERALL: Five stars, definitely. :) I have become a loyal Organix South customer for life. As soon as we need more shampoo, I will be ordering from them.

Organix South has been generous enough to offer an amazing all natural spa package for one lucky reader!!

This package includes is a $59 value and includes:

You know the drill, but in case you're new here check out the list below on how to get more entries! Leave your email in at least one of your comments so we can email you if you win! Giveaway ends Saturday, 3/12. Be sure to leave a comment for EACH one you do so you get more entries! :)

Micro Tweeze

I have never tweezed or waxed my own eyebrows before, nor have I had the desire to. However, I was getting fed up with paying $10 a pop at the salon! Plus, I was never happy with how they did it, and it HURT! Who in their right mind pays someone $10 every 2 weeks to inflict pain on them? Haha. Lots of us do. :)

When Christmas rolled around, my girlfriend bought me this Micro Tweeze Microwaveable Wax. I was scared to try it at first, but I was like "Hmm, they're eyebrows, they'll grow back", and off I went to no-tweezing. The first few times I tried it, I just took a little off at a time. Baby steps. :) Now, I'm confident in waxing and like to try new things. My brows grow back fast, so I can take a lot off and in a week or so they will be a full grown uni-brow again.

Anyway, enough rambling. I'm sure you guys are just dying to see up-close pictures of my funky brows! These aren't the best pictures but they'll do. :)

                                                             BEFORE

DURING

AFTER

Now, I'm not gonna lie. This is the first time I've taken more than just a little bit off. I didn't do as well as I usually do, but I'm still happy with the overall result. The picture is an odd angle, but they're really not too uneven. :) I like to connect the pieces of wax, so I can pull them all off at once. If you just rub on one strip, then pull off, then another strip, and pull off, it's going to take a while. So once you get used to it, connect the strips of the hot wax and you can pull all at once. :)

PROS: It also works for removing hair above your lip. Great directions, easy to use, affordable (pays for itself in two uses!), and works really well.

CONS: I'm impatient and when the wax container is full, it takes a few minutes to heat up in the microwave. Once in a while if you don't apply the wax correctly, you will get a few pieces left over. Make sure you use wax-remover to pull them off or wherever they land WILL remove lots of hair.

OVERALL: This product gets a solid 5 out of 5 stars. Couldn't ask for any improvement.

When reading other reviews online, it says this works for the bikini area as well. You'll have to let me know how that goes, because I'm not attempting it. ;) If you purchase this item, make sure you buy extra sticks to apply the wax with.

Gillette Venus Embrace: Sadie's Review

When it comes to razors, not all are created equal. I have had my fair share of nicks, cuts, razor burn, and missed patches of hair because of them. I had all but given up when, almost like a sign from the shaving gods, I found a $3 off coupon on the shelf right by the Gillette Venus Embrace Razor! I thought to myself, "$8 for a disposable razor? Well.. with $3 off it makes it $5.. let's go for it!". I placed the coupon in my organizer, and the razor in my cart, and went to the check out line. When I got home, I honestly didn't give the razor a second though for quite a while because I still had some others in the shower.

I finally tried the Venus Embrace and again, from the shaving gods, I heard "HALLELUJAH!"... okay, not quite, but this is by far the best, most affordable razor that has ever touched my legs! I have tried quite a few - from the cheap BICs to the more expensive ones, and even the ones designed for men - and have always been sorely disappointed. The Venus Embrace by Gillette is definitely a keeper in this house!

For an entire month, I have been shaving (legs, armpits, and more) with the same cartridge. Usually after one or two shaving sessions, my razor is shot. I'm 6'2", so that's a LOT of shaving to do! Poor razors. :( Luckily, I've found my razor soul-mate in the Venus Embrace. :)

GOOD: The razor comes with a mount for the shower, and inside the mount it holds another cartridge. The cartridges are very easy to open, even with slippery fingers from being in the shower. You just pop the corners in, peel back, and you're ready to go. I shaved for over a month and did not cut myself, nor did the razor go dull. At $8 ($5 with coupon!), this razor is very affordable. The refills are only $13 for 4.

BAD: My partner tried shaving with this same razor, and did not care for it. She said it bends too easily and is hard to shave smaller areas like armpits. I did not experience this problem but I thought it was worth mentioning.

OVERALL: 5 out of 5 stars, hands down! Best. Razor. Ever. :) Affordable, convenient, and long-lasting. Before you go shopping for the Venus Embrace, use google to see if you can find some coupons!

Have you tried this razor? Tell us about it, or let us know what your favorites are!

It Works! Review

I was so excited to try the body wrap from Jessica! :) It was packaged nicely, had lots of great information, and pretty clear instructions. I measured myself, then cleansed my skin and placed the wrap on my stomach. I covered myself in saran wrap to secure it, and waited patiently for 45 minutes. :)

Tick tock, tick tock...

I spent a few moments looking at all of the awesome before and after pictures! Talk about motivating. At this point, I was excited!!

About 50 minutes later (got side-tracked by Ellen), I removed the wrap and measured myself. Not even 1/4 of an inch difference. :( Disappointing, to say the least. Guess I can't skip zumba for the day.

While the website boasts that you WILL lose inches, I wasn't that lucky I guess. My before and after pics are the same, so no need to post them. :) It is possible that after 72 hours I will notice a difference. If I happen to lose any inches, I will update this review right away!

PROS: The wrap smells great, Jessica shipped it very quickly, lots of information included in the packet.

CONS: Expensive, didn't work for me.

Overall: 1 out of 5 stars. Very disappointed and thankful I did not have to pay $89 for 4 wraps as stated in the brochure.

You can find Jessica's website by clicking here, or above on her Facebook link. :) Leave comments if you have tried this product, I'd love to hear from someone that it actually worked on!

Last Minute Christmas Gift - Cake in a Jar

Everyone knows about cookie mix in a jar, but what about actual CAKE in a jar? It's like a portable cupcake!

You will need:

1 pint canning jars (preferably with no necks, but any will do)
Cake mix (and all ingredients that the recipe calls for)
Butter

Directions:

Sanitize all canning jars and lids. Mix cake batter (I used red velvet) up as directed on box. Grease inside of canning jars with butter. Pour cake mix into jars 1/4 cup at a time, making 1 cup total in each jar. Be careful not to get any mix on upper part of the jars (it will burn!). Place canning jars on cookie sheet, or a pan with sides.

Bake as directed on cake mix box, subtracting 10 minutes from total time. Place canning lids on stove 5 minutes before the cakes are set to come out. When the timer goes off, test with skewer to see if they are completely done.

Let the cakes cool for 5 minutes (no longer). At this time you may add a spoonful of cake icing (or you can have the recipient use their own). Put (warm, from sitting on stove) lids on (careful not to screw on too tight). The lids will 'ping' as they cool. This means they are sealing. If you miss the 'ping', press on the lid. If it doesn't move at all, it's sealed. The cake will pull away from the sides of the jar slightly as it cools.

Mine aren't as pretty as they should be, because I didn't use quite a cup in each and they aren't full enough. I melted the icing and put it on top so it would drip down a bit. Nobody wants a half-iced cake in a jar!

This is where you get creative. You can add fabric to the top of the jar (wrap a rubberband or ribbon around it to keep it in place), or even add a zip-loc baggie with a plastic (or real!) fork or spoon inside. Add a little notecard to make it personal (and so people are not confused as to what's inside). The possibilities are endless -- I am using my Cricut to cut out everyone's names and then put mod podge over them to keep them in place. I will add pictures when I can (probably tomorrow).

I would love to see what you come up with.. feel free to post a link to your blog if you write about it.

Total cost: Less than $2 each.

**Unsealed cakes need to be refrigerated and eaten within a week. Sealed cakes can be frozen or stored in the refrigerator for months.**

GIVEAWAY!! Abigail's Boutique Designs: Sadie's Review

My youngest daughter Sapphire fell in love with the skirt we got from Abigail's Boutique Designs. It's crazy, loud, and fits Miss Sapphire to a T! These are priced around $20, which is great for a unique, durable, hand made skirt. Sapphire has been wearing this skirt for a few weeks now and it's still holding up, which means it is definitely durable. She is my rough n tough one!

The beauty bomb we tested was HUGE. It has lasted through about 5 baths for each of my 3 girls. They just took a small chunk of it each time and used it. It smells great, and it came in a neat little bag to keep it contained. I just looked at her Etsy shop and found some regular beauty bombs - the large ones are special for the holidays. :)

I was also able to try a sample of her highly scented soy melts. One cube made my entire kitchen and living room smell amazing. :) The shop owner, Robyn, is offering a random pack of tarts to one lucky winner that responds to this blog post!!

I have LOTS of things that are on my wish list from Abigail's Boutique Designs! The soy candles that last a year are a must have. 4 promo soaps for $3 can't be beat! And last but not least, the shea butter lotion! YUM!

GOOD: High quality, and unique. Outstanding customer service and a very organized shop. :)

BAD: Normally the $20 price for a skirt would scare me away, but if I needed a customized one for matching (unique!) pictures, I'd definitely splurge.

OVERALL: 5 out of 5 stars!

Visit her on FACEBOOK and let her know 3 Girls sent ya! :) Or stop by and heart her Etsy shop!
